BUMBLEBEE – Created to Reach the Trout Others Couldn’t
Share
Every lure has its own story, and BUMBLEBEE is one of the most special stories in the Harmony Baits collection.
The idea behind this lure was born several years ago during my very first visit to the Kaniansky Pstruh trout competition in Slovakia. One evening, while talking with friends who had invited me to the event, we started discussing different Trout Area techniques, casting distance, and situations that every angler experiences.
Again and again, the conversation came back to one problem.
Many anglers had experienced moments when trout were actively feeding just a little too far from the bank. The fish were there, they could see them, but they simply couldn’t reach them with a soft lure. Often, they only needed another three to five meters to get their bait into the strike zone.
That is when my friends suggested creating a soft lure specifically designed for maximum casting distance.
They even showed me an old prototype of a lure that was no longer available anywhere. I liked the basic idea, but I wanted to create something completely new—the Harmony Baits way.
In the spring of last year, I finally decided to turn that idea into reality.
That is how BUMBLEBEE was born.
From the very beginning, BUMBLEBEE was designed with one clear goal: to cast as far as possible while keeping the natural action of a soft lure.
Unlike traditional soft baits, BUMBLEBEE has most of its weight concentrated in the rear part of the body. This shifts the center of gravity backwards, making every cast longer, more stable, and more accurate.
The original BUMBLEBEE 38 mm (1.50 in) weighs 3.65 g (0.129 oz) and quickly proved that the idea worked.
Many anglers compared its casting distance to small trout spoons weighing around 2.5 grams, which is an outstanding result for a soft silicone lure.
Today, BUMBLEBEE has become one of the best-selling Harmony Baits lures during the spring and autumn Trout Area season and has earned the trust of many anglers fishing lakes throughout Europe.
Designing a lure with such a slim body and most of its weight concentrated in the tail also created another challenge.
The hook section had to remain durable enough to withstand repeated catches without tearing too quickly.
That is why I developed our DFT technology.
DFT combines two different silicone hardnesses in one lure.
The tail section is made from extremely soft floating silicone, allowing trout to hold the lure naturally instead of immediately spitting it out.
The hook section uses a firmer silicone that provides much better durability and keeps the lure securely on the hook despite its slim profile.
As BUMBLEBEE became more popular, I started receiving another request.
Many anglers absolutely loved the 38 mm version, but they wanted a smaller model for lighter presentations and more technical fishing situations.
Once again, I listened.
That is why I created the new BUMBLEBEE 34 mm (1.34 in) weighing 2.68 g (0.095 oz).
Unlike our ultra-soft silicone used in Larva Apod, Larva Grub, Larva XL, Scarab, and MAGGIC, the new 34 mm BUMBLEBEE is made from the same silicone hardness as our Hornet lure.
This gives the smaller version additional durability while maintaining excellent movement and action in the water.
Whether you choose the powerful long-distance performance of the 38 mm model or the finesse of the new 34 mmversion, both BUMBLEBEE lures were created with exactly the same purpose—to help you reach fish that other soft lures simply can’t.
Harmony Baits has always been built on one simple philosophy.
I don’t create new lures simply because something is fashionable or because everyone else makes them.
Every new lure starts with conversations, ideas, and real experiences shared by anglers on the bank, at competitions, through social media, and in everyday fishing.
I listen carefully.
And when I truly believe an idea can help anglers catch more fish and enjoy fishing even more, I do everything I can to turn that idea into reality.
BUMBLEBEE is another perfect example of this philosophy.
Thank you to everyone who shares ideas, suggestions, and honest feedback with me. Your experience helps Harmony Baits continue growing and creating lures that are designed by anglers, inspired by anglers, and made for anglers.
